Since Fabric has rejected their contribution to Fabriclive series, french duo Justice decided to give it away for free as their “Xmas mix“. URB featured it in their podcast, so you can get it there, or you can use this link.

Apparently, the problem was lenghth (Fabric folk demands a 70-75 min. mix, up to 25 tracks…), but also the fact they weren’t really ready for mix like this, they thought its a joke. Well, judging by the playlists, if this was released, it would surely be one of the weirdest in Fabric series…

‘We Are Facing The Sun’ basks in the warmth of deep undulating basslines, splintered by piano stabs whilst first single ‘Double-Checked’ glides along the horizon with a dark and shadowy voice lurking in the distance.

‘Lotre (Mehr Fleisch)’ takes house into deep territory with subtle percussion and delicate nuances lighting the path and ‘Chemin Des Figons’ tackles similar deft sonics with a light and breezy guitar refrain riding in halfway through. ‘The Fortune Cookie Symphony’ sees Sascha wind up with a more abstract finale that takes us ever further into the darker realms of the night.

Kero delivers four new compositions for his debut on the Touchin’ Bass label. By splicing together sounds and styles, he creates layer upon layer of aural textures, like an artist slapping paint onto his canvas. By example ‘Prof Railer’ fazes in and out over a haunting backing track while ‘On Acid Again’ starts with slower melancholy stabs, before it develops into an acid onslaught. Weaving in and out with subtle electro tones, the twisted ‘Bilder’ and technoid ‘Modem Wait’ complete this collection, making it another Touchin’ Bass must have.

Kevin has recorded under various aliases, and at various times worked in the music industry as promoter, graphic designer, teacher and photographer. Using the name ‘Cheech’ he remixed Tony Thomas for ‘Bugged’ (2003) and had his first track ‘Rocksteady’ (2002) re-released on Distinctiv’ in 2004. Cheech has appeared on compilations including James Lavelle’s Global Underground, Y4K, Ministry and others.

Kevin is based in his Manchester studio, and is originally from Chester, England.
