Piracy more serious than burglary, fraud, bank robbery
June 16, 2007 | Filed Under General Info, Tech Zone | No Comments
For the more than nine years that Ars Technica has been publishing online, we’ve been outspoken when it comes to the lack of balance between the threat of piracy (which is always overstated) and the “solutions” to piracy (which are often draconian) that some copyright holders demand. Whether it’s laws that would turn the possession of software into a crime, completely baked piracy reports, or yet another law meant to criminalize civil infractions, we’ve cast a critical eye on an industry that defines solipsism.

The Little Phatty Stage Edition of Moog
January 21, 2007 | Filed Under Tech Zone | No Comments
The most recent Moog product to hit the market, the limited edition Little Phatty Tribute Edition was a massive success, rendering it increasingly difficult to get ahold of one. Reason enough to bring another model to its eager audience, The little Phatty Stage Edition to be precise. “Demand for the Little Phatty has been huge since we released the Tribute in August. We are completely sold out, and my understanding is that only a few dealers have Tributes available,” said Moog Music President Mike Adams. “We set out to design a true analog synth with a simple yet versatile interface and make it available to a wider audience. Clearly we got it right, and with the Stage Edition, a Moog synth is accessible to a huge spectrum of musicians and performers.” The latter should be taken with a grain of salt, as the US built Moogs do not have a reputation for being overly cheap.

Allen & Heath has a golden reputation in the DJ community, and we’re excited to offer Xone Mixed In Key software to a wider audience,” writes Mixed In Key president, Yakov Vorobyev.

Online market researcher Hitwise said that the iTunes site had more than four times the usual amount of traffic, which appeared enough to knock it over completely.
