A sad day for clubbing in Venezuela. Unofficial reports say 4 people are dead and 9 others were wounded in an early morning shootout during a Carl Cox show over the weekend in Caracas, Venezuela. (more). Apparently it was gang related, two guns were found on the spot. Carl cox issued a statement on his website too.

Loveparade 2007: first names announced

Booka Shade, Fedde Le Grand and Westbam will play this year’s Love Parade in Essen on Saturday, August 25, 2007. The three acts join Bad Boy Bill, Chris Liebing, Monika Kruse, Octave One and ATB as some of the first names confirmed to play the transplanted event. This year’s fest will be the first Love Parade in Germany to be held outside of Berlin.
Mayer & Boratto on tour

Kompakt boss Michael Mayer and Brazilian signing Gui Boratto (check his new album ’Chromophobia’) are touring North America later this month. The quick jaunt kicks off in San Francisco on May 24 and includes dates in Los Angeles (alongside Dave Seaman) and a Robots party at Cielo in New York. Mayeratto are also billed for festival dates in Detroit at the Movement Festival as well as Saturday night at Mutek in Montreal, where they will be playing alongside Someone Else, Pantha du Prince and Ambivalent.

Richie Hawtin, John Digweed, Beastie Boys and the Wu Tang Clan are confirmed to play this year’s Exit Festival, taking place at the Petrovardin Fortress in Novi Sad in Serbia from July 12 to July 15, 2007.
Hawtin and Digweed headline the dance arena as do Danish wunderkind Trentemoller, Roger Sanchez, Swedish house don Eric Prydz, Collabs 3000 aka Chris Liebing and Speedy J, Buzzin’ Fly chief Ben Watt, dancing machine Magda, Paul Woolford, Sebastien Leger and Dirtybird’s Justin Martin.
The Chemical Brothers: new album & tour

NYC record shop Vinylmania closed

New York’s legendary West Village record shop Vinylmania, the latest of casualities in one of the many neighborhoods where long time businesses are being priced out, has closed. The shop first opened in 1978, and has since become an integral part of the NYC music community.
Radio Soulwax - 2007 tour dates

The Belgian groove gurus Stephen and David Dewaele, one part of the group Soulwax, are heading out on a US tour with their project 2 Many DJs and Fixed, the Brooklyn Vegan reports. The tour will kick off on 14th of April in Philadelphia and closes with the Coachella date on 29th of April. All of the dates will feature Soulwax Nite Versions live, as well as DJ sets from the Dewaele brothers as 2 Many DJs, and the Fixed boys JDH & Dave P.

They have been at the very forefront of drum & bass ever since Ant Miles and a sixteen year old Andy C released the label’s debut ‘Sour Mash EP’ in 1992, and almost immediately wrote the label into jungle history with their genre-defining and scene-shaping magnum opus ‘Valley of the Shadows’ in 1993.
