Sascha Funke - Mango
December 26, 2007 | Filed Under Artists, Labels, Releases | No Comments
Sascha Funke is back, following his debut artist album ‘Bravo’ with a second long-player that cements his electronic status as well as throwing up a few surprises. The rather fruity ‘Mango’ follows his well received mix CD ‘Boogybytes Vol.2’ and features vocal contributions from Fritz Kalkbrenner, Fritz Zander and Sascha himself as well as MIA guitarist TimTim. He has been DJing since the late 90s and was influenced by Berlin based clubs E-Werk, Panoramabar and WMF and here interlaces deep minimal tracks with more pop orientated material to show just how far he has come as an artist. The opening sun drenched chords of ‘Mango’ subdue us into the album with their warm glowing light leading the way across a downtempo house groove.

Kero - 2 Advance 4 U
December 24, 2007 | Filed Under Artists, Labels, Releases | No Comments
With over 20 releases on some of electronic music’s most celebrated and innovative labels such as Bpitch Control, Ghostly International, Shitkatapult and most recently Downwards, as well as his own critically acclaimed Detroit Underground Records, Kero has established a reputation for his unrepentantly brash, yet cultivated compositions and unforgettable live performances, most recently, alongside notables such as Speedy J, Ken Ishii and Funkstorung. He has established himself as a leader within the growing pack of electronic music producers successfully infiltrating contemporary art circles worldwide. Drawing on his experiences as a dual citizen of both Canada and the United States, his innovative approach to music, graphic design and video production feeds on the detritus of popular electronic culture, creating a montage of fleeting musical and visual experiences that are paradoxically critical and enamoured with contemporary culture.

VA - We are punks 2
December 22, 2007 | Filed Under Artists, Labels, Releases | No Comments
Given wings by the outstanding success of the first edition of the anthology as well as the “Various Punks Volume A”- double EP, Anthony Rother and Matthias Gustke aka Ziel 100 are once again choosing the best melodies from the successful label. With over 150 minutes playing time on two completely mixed albums, the second chapter of “We Are Punks“-series is an intensive bridging of the past and future of a label, which has defined the sound of modern clubs like nothing else, through a fertilization of techno and electro into a new hybrid. In addition to the compiled datapunk club hits of the last few months (among others Anthony Rother’s “Moderntronic 3″ and his current single “So Good”, Billy Nasty’s “Iconic Warfare” and/or “Electro maloquerio”, Umek’s “Vandal Derivate” or Kiko’s “30.1″), many of which are appearing in on an album format for the first time, there are seven exclusive tracks which until now have not been released, which will appear on two vinyl maxis at the same time and will showcase the soundprofile of the label for the new year.

D.Ramirez - Rewind / Fast Forward
December 5, 2007 | Filed Under Artists, Download, Releases | No Comments
With so much hype and excitement in the current electronic music scene, it can be hard to keep up - so many tracks, so little time. That’s why it’s the one’s who consistently produce quality and have the innate talent to ‘deliver’ that are still standing at the end of the day. D.Ramirez fits this bill to a capital T. ‘Rewind / Fast Forward’ takes a look back over his prolific career with a collection of his finest productions and remixes, along with two DJ mixes, one by himself, and one by his latest prodigy Kristoph. It’s a fantastic collection of music that underlines the importance of his productions over the last decade, and with talks of a new album and live show on the way, things don’t seem to be letting up.

Sebastien Leger - Planets
November 26, 2007 | Filed Under Artists, Labels, Releases | No Comments
One of the most outstanding producers and DJs of the current electronic scene drops his hotly anticipated album… Sébastien Léger presents ‘Planets’ on his own label - Mistakes Music. Featuring 11 tracks written by Sébastien to showcase what his label is all about; ‘Planet’s has quickly taken on other-worldly status and every track has been named after a Planet in our solar system. Mistakes Music acts as an outlet for Sébastien’s own music. The label itself is named after Sébastien’s “ad lib” approach to producing records, whereby the final mix down and arrangement on each track has in fact been achieved by a happy accident or “mistake” as he modestly puts it.
