Second release on Dave Angel’s Niah label

2007 saw the launch of Dave Angel’s new label, Niah. Niah is a sub label of Dave’s already infamous Rotation label. “I have set up Niah so I can delve into the more tech house side of my music” says Dave Angel.

Dave should need no introduction to the dance music world. Born in Chelsea, the son of a Jazz musician, Dave Angel’s first musical instrument (appropriately) was a drum at the noisy age of eight. Later on DJing formed a natural progression into the recording process and two weeks recording at home with two basic turntables and two tape decks and a child Casio keyboard in 1989 bore the fruits of his first musical excursion - a remix of The Eurhythmics ‘Sweet Dreams’ - somewhat controversial but eminently successful, reaching No. 23 in the UK National Charts first time round. Since this initial success Dave has never lost his drive to create music which continues to be regarded as some of the bravest and most influential dance music this country produces. With a massive back catalogue of personal productions, remixes and mix compilations behind him as well as continuing to tour the Globe with his record box, Dave continues to be one of the best musical exports we have to offer.

Here he presents the label’s second release ‘Taurus E.P’, which has already achieved ‘Recommended Techno Single of the Week’ from DMC Update.

On the A side, ‘Taurus’ has already been getting them going on the dancefloor with it’s stomping tech-house beats and old school synth feel. This is sure to be big. Over on the B it’s more classic Dave Angel where tough beats underlay the melodic and spacey vibe.
