The Prodigy's new label and albumAlways fiercely independent, the legendary U.K. formation The Prodigy has established its own label, Ragged Flag, which will handle the band’s next, yet untitled album - a follow-up to 2004’s “Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned,” as well as all future projects. “We have been planning this for a while and we are looking forward to building our label up, starting off with the release of the new Prodigy album,” the band’s founder and frontman Liam Howlett told Billboard. Backed by U.K. independent imprint Cooking Vinyl, Ragged Flag will also subsequently act as an outlet for new talent that they find. “The Prodigy are one of the most relevant bands to today’s world. It is a real honor to be entrusted with handling affairs for Ragged Flag. This is a fantastic start to 2007, and it is the start of a new era for Cooking Vinyl,” comments Cooking Vinyl’s Managing Director Martin Goldschmidt.

The new deal also sees the band parting ways and ending its long-running relationship with XL Recordings, the label that released some of the band’s most memorable releases, including the 1993 rave classic “Charly” and legendary albums “Experience” and 1997’s top selling “The Fat Of The Land.”

The Prodigy first emerged on the underground rave scene in the early 1990s, and have since then achieved immense popularity and worldwide renown with music of various styles ranging from rave, hardcore techno and industrial in the early 1990s to alternative rock and bigbeat with punk vocal elements in later times. The current band members include Liam Howlett (composer / keyboards), Keith Flint (dancer / vocalist) and Maxim (MC / vocalist). Leeroy Thornhill (dancer / very occasional live keyboards) was a member of the band from 1990 to 2000, as well was a female dancer and vocalist Sharky who left the band during their early period.
