Umek - Akul EP (Audiomatique)

Steve Bug’s Audiomatique Recordings will open up 2007 with “Akul” - a brand new twelve inch by the label’s newest signing, besides Valentino Kanzyani best known Slovenian DJ and producer Umek. “Akul” kicks off with a percussive rhythm before a dark synth and a charismatic chord are driving the piece along. The second track “Complikator” is a relentless and dramatic backing of severe synths, rising pads and swirling noise. So, something new & interesting for the Umek’s fans that like his recent change in artistic direction.

Since 1993, Umek (full name Uros Umek) produced dozens of singles and remixes (most of his tracks are named after medicines or other substances) for labels such as Planet Rhythm, Jericho, NovaMute, Spielzeug, Blacknation and Code X, just to name a few. “I work seven days a week on music, and the reason I produce so much is that I love what I do,” says Umek. Besides music production and DJing all around the world, Umek also set up and runs two labels, Consumer Recreation and, together with Valentino Kanzyani, Recycled Loops.
