The Little Phatty Stage Edition of Moog

The Little Phatty Stage Edition of MoogThe most recent Moog product to hit the market, the limited edition Little Phatty Tribute Edition was a massive success, rendering it increasingly difficult to get ahold of one. Reason enough to bring another model to its eager audience, The little Phatty Stage Edition to be precise. “Demand for the Little Phatty has been huge since we released the Tribute in August. We are completely sold out, and my understanding is that only a few dealers have Tributes available,” said Moog Music President Mike Adams. “We set out to design a true analog synth with a simple yet versatile interface and make it available to a wider audience. Clearly we got it right, and with the Stage Edition, a Moog synth is accessible to a huge spectrum of musicians and performers.” The latter should be taken with a grain of salt, as the US built Moogs do not have a reputation for being overly cheap.

Although more information, also regarding pricing, will be made available during its unveiling at Winter Namm, the machine’s feature set and sound engine will be similar to its predecessor. Several software and hardware upgrades have transformed it into more of stage synth, as auto mapping, auto calibration and auto tuning render it a stable sound and midi generator on stage. The space age design certainly adds to the desirability of the machine, as rather than wood, the usual Moog choice, the machine is coated in rubberized plastic and alloy; perhaps even cooler than the golden Access Virus TI that is still up for grabs.

The Little Phatty Stage Edition will begin shipping in February 2007.
