BLOC Weekend

Now this is what I call a hell of a line up!
BLOC Weekend is a fresh UK festival celebrating the advancement of electronic music and the culture it creates. It’s also an almighty rave. BLOC weekend marks the evolution of legendary Brighton club night BLOC into an internationally visible showcase featuring the finest electronic acts at the zenith of their power. It is 3 days and nights over 3 indoor arenas in an off-season holiday park which houses 2200 blocheads in private apartments with all mod cons.
BLOC WEEKEND 23rd – 25th March 2007.
Pontin\’s Holiday Park, Hemsby, Gt Yarmouth, Norfolk, UK.

The Setting
BLOC weekend is set in the wilds of Norfolk, two hours drive from London and forty minutes from the seaside resort of Great Yarmouth. The protected Norfolk coastline, five minutes walk from the festival site, is some of the most striking scenery in the country.
The site itself, a self-contained holiday park, is a major feature of the weekend. All those attending BLOC are provided with apartments boasting private bathrooms, bedrooms and kitchens. The park itself has all the facilities demanded by modern holidaymakers – including gokarts, swimming pools, ziplines and sports facilities.
The Music
BLOC and its associates are at the forefront of cutting edge, forward thinking independent electronic music. The weekend is a celebration of the artists, labels, promoters, companies and audiences that have contributed to the constant global evolution and reinvention of electronic music. You can call it techno, hardcore, house, breaks, dubstep or ghetto tech….BLOC weekend represents the entire sonic spectrum.
Arena 1: The BassBloc
With its heavy emphasis (and emphasis on the heavy) on the emerging new urban sounds of gun-funk, ghettotech and dubstep and its reckless unleashing of the power of jungle, drum’n’bass and ravecore the BassBloc will be established as the last word in dangerous, bass-heavy power tunes.
Arena 2: The TecBloc
This is the purists’ arena, a distillation of those genres known as house, techno, electro and minimal by the artists that made them famous. The TecBloc lineup is a work of art, bringing together some of the most established names in dance music with the freshest acts from tomorrow’s parties. With the emphasis firmly on live rave and heavy, punching four-four beats the TecBloc is the arena will make Bloc’s name as a standard bearer for 21st century technoculture.
Arena 3: The SmashBloc
The SmashBloc arena also provides a platform for niche, independent record labels and party crews to show a massive audience what their resident artists are made of. We know that these labels and nights are churning out the toughest artists and the choicest cuts, keeping scenes fresh from the grassroots up, and that’s why we want to show our support for the new ground they break with every hard edged release and unforgettable party. And of course it’s open a boneshaking 24 hours.
